Plans for our Resource Activity Centre for operations and public display in the Music and Drama Library in Gloucester are set.  An agreement has been reached with the Gloucestershire County Library Services and English Heritage and we accepted a 25 year lease for the second floor.  The building is in the historic Greyfriars area of Gloucester which is situated in the city centre.

Click on any of the thumbnail photos to view the current images of the second floor.  The space has been painted and we installed new carpets and convector heaters.

To date, we have raised £33,548.59.  Most of it was spent on our legal expenses, insuring the premises and refurbishment work.  We now require further funding to purchase computers, shelving for books and display materials and the playback facility for members of the public to access specific audio/visual material.  We welcome any contribution to the fund and appreciate your support.  Please make all cheques payable to the European Blues Association.

Now that the building works are completed, our aim is to create a Resource Activity Centre for the study of African American music that encourages visits from EBA members, members of the general public and scholars.  In addition to access to the Archive, there will be changing exhibitions and displays.  If you have any items you would like to donate, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Items contributed so far include the bequest of the Paul Oliver Collection and the Dave Dalton Collection.  These collections are currently being catalogued and the following is a structural summary of its content.

The EBA is dedicated to keeping the Blues very much in the forefront of music today.  As an educational institute, our aim is to become 'the resource' for our members and the general public who are interested in the historical past and the modern progression of the blues.  Our goal is to promote all aspects of the music and the African American culture from which it evolved.  As the music crossed the Atlantic Ocean, it crossed all cultural barriers.  It is always expanding.  Today, it belongs to everyone!  The Archive of African American Music need your support.
